Eat Chocolate Cake To Help Your Business

Extraordinary Woman Adventure:

I had chocolate cake for breakfast the other day.  My goodness did it feel good.  Every three months or so, I wake up and that's what I want for breakfast.  I used to resist this, thinking things like, "You can't do that!" or "It's bad for you."  But the thing is, I seem to get a tremendous lift when I make decisions like this, and it's not just the fructose corn syrup high.

What There Is For You To Know:

Like me and the other women on this list, you are an achiever - someone who is used to doing things well and getting results, no matter what the cost.  I've noticed that "playing by the rules" oftentimes seems to go hand in hand with this.  It's a strange mix - I think most of us passionately-driven types tend to be out-of-the-box thinkers and players.  We're natural rule breakers.  Yet at the same time, when we get really caught up in our work, we can get rigid.  Teeth clench, jaws tighten and shoulders tense as we bear down to make things happen in our businesses and try to do things the "right" way.

This accomplishes a lot.  But over time, all that clenching and tensing drains away the "sassy" that makes us the passionate women we are.  We need reminders.  We need ways to keep the sass and spark alive amidst all the productivity and focus.

The Sparkle Factor:

When I woke up the other morning and thought, "I want chocolate cake for breakfast," there was a mischievous, alive, sparkly quality that kicked in, and it kicked in even more when I actually acted on it.  That, ladies, is the juice to follow.  That sparkly, alive energy - that's what you want to activate as you navigate your business day.  The things that activate it may not fit the standard bill of "something you do to better your business" (I have yet to see a business plan that lists "eat chocolate cake" as a strategy for forward movement), but who cares!  It's the aliveness that we're looking for.  Because the more that sassy, kicky energy flows through your veins, the more ease of access to your great ideas, your creative problem-solving abilities and the gorgeous spark that makes your business breath-taking and unique out there in the marketplace.

Try It On The Fly:

This week, look for your version of eating chocolate cake for breakfast - that sparkly, mischievous, kicky thing that makes you light up and gets you out of the box that your intense focus on productivity can drag you into.  And not to say that the intense focus is a bad thing, it's just that we want both - we want the intense focus and we want the mischievous play.  I can't wait to hear what shenanigans you get into this week.  Remember, it's good for your business!
