When You Can't Make a Decision
This article's one-minute meditative melody
(Right or left-click depending on your computer)
Ever kick yourself for not being able to make a decision? You go back and forth, but you can't seem to just dig in and make a choice.
Or maybe you've got a strong sense about a decision you need to make, but you just haven't been able to get yourself to do it...
Being a go-getting woman, you're good at making things happen. You get an idea, you go for it. You see the brass ring, you don't have to think twice about reaching.
So when you find yourself stymied in a choice or not moving forward as quickly as you would like, it really gets your goat.
What's your problem, chickie? Nike, right?
Just do it!

Mostly DON'T Just Do It
=====================
Just Do It is a great adage, and boy does it come in handy sometimes. Like when you're ready and you just need that extra push. But other times it's not what's best for your business.
You see, Just Do It can trample over some very important information. And, beautifully, you have an internal mechanism that safeguards you from missing out on this information. Really, you're a genius and you don't even know it...

Your Very Own Gem Detector
============================
Earlier this year, I was driving myself crazy with a decision about whether or not to sign on for a business class that I really wanted to take. As the deadline approached, I waffled feverishly about which choice to go with.
It got to a point where I'd laid out all of the pros and cons, I'd talked my friends' ears off and I had pages of journaling to help me get clear about what was important.
And still no answer.
This had been going on for days. I started in with the kicking-of-self that so many of us fall into. "What's your problem? Just make a decision! My God, this could go on forever!"
Then something beautiful happened: I got tired. I had been sitting at my desk determined to figure it out that morning, and my eyes sort of glazed over. Can't....think....about it....anymore. I took my dog for a walk.
And wouldn't you know it- on that walk, I had an a-ha about an option I had somehow overlooked. It was so obvious, and yet it just hadn't registered on my radar until that moment. It was the missing piece I'd needed, the Hidden Gem. I was registered for the class within 24 hours.

Using Your Gem Detector
=======================
Here are the key points you can use for your own decision-making dilemmas:
1) Rather than kicking yourself for not just deciding, recognize that your Inner Knowing is at work here. It's the ultimate Gem Detector. When you can't get yourself to go one way or the other, that's your Inner Knowing telling you there's something missing from the equation. "Hey Lisa, there's a Gem over here!" Maybe it's a piece of information, maybe there's something for you to learn or maybe it's just not the right timing.
2) Stay open to the Hidden Gem. No need to beat yourself up for not making the decision sooner. Being a go-getting woman, you'd Just-Do-It if the time was right. Instead, keep exploring, keep noticing what feels right and what doesn't, and watch for the missing piece that makes everything go "click". It may take longer than you'd like, but hang in there- it's coming!
3) Let the process carry you. When you're not resisting or second-guessing yourself, the journey toward the Hidden Gem makes sense. You're no longer behind the eight ball or behind the times. You can experience much less friction, exhaustion and frustration. You can, yes, relax a bit. And you can notice any Bonus Gems that happen along the way. In the process of trying to make my decision, I cleared up some fuzziness in my personal life, the Hidden Gem ended up actually improving my finances, and if that wasn't enough- I experienced healing in a relationship with a family member. Jackpot!
All in all, your Inner Knowing has an exquisite sense of timing. When you hit a block in a decision-making process, trust that it's your Inner Knowing guiding you in exactly the right way!
